Turkey Stuffer

This Thanksgiving turkey stuffer had over 1600 turkey stuffer register walk/runners

It was a crisp clear cool morning here in Springfield Or. today was my second annual turkey stuffer race. The temps were about 35 degrees great running weather no rain in sight. There were over 1600 register to walk/run this event which made it a very exciting. I had two goals for this year turkey stuffer. My first goal was to of course finish the race with a better time than I had last year and to come in under 30 mins. Well I met both goals this year finishing time was 26:57 which was a 8:41 pace, last year time was 34:50.65 which was a 11:13 pace. What a big difference a year makes. I will run more 5ks and improve my time next goal will be to run it under 25 mins easily. I know that it will take some time but I can do it and I will do.

What is Next????

Today, I am trying to decide about running in what will be my third half marathon on Saturday November 22. I think I am going to do because the forecast will be perfect and I think my body can handle it.

I am moving closely to the end of the year and so grateful that I have been healthy and on track to keep running half marathons. It is a great feeling after I reached that finish line. Going into the next year I probably will do a couple, I thought I wanted to travel with them but now I don't know. I don't want to get all the injuries that I here other runners complaining about after doing several marathons.

I do want to focus more on the 5ks, 8ks, & 10k and try to figure what would be a great competing distance for me. Once I do that I can establish my own personal goals and where I want to go with them.

What I am planning on doing is the following races:

11/22/08 Eweb Run to Stay Warm 13.1 (half marathon)

11/27/08 Turkey Stuffer 3.1 (5k)

12/13/08 Jungle Bell Run 5.0 (8k)

1/1/09 First Run 6.2 (10k)

Next year I want to focus on doing a lot more shorter distance races. Hopefully this will give me an idea on what races I will focus on in 2009.
